A PERFECT PLACE TO BE EXILED

Hartwell House

Hartwell House was once the safe haven to Marie-Therese of France. The daughter of Marie Antoinette and King Louise XVI, she stayed for a while with her husband after the execution of her parents and the remaining royal family's exile from France. The beautiful surrounding most likely brought little solace to the young woman but today Hartwell House is the perfect place to escape from the stresses of every day life.

There are 48 rooms in the grade 1 listed building and each is decorated to suit its grand surroundings. The food is sublime and again suited to the opulence of the occasion. What is really the pearl in the decorative shell is the spa. A beautiful indoor pool to unwind and all manor of spa treatments. I certainly will be returning.
